eligible for a tax credit of up to 35% if
you pay for at least 50% of your employee's

is the insurer for health, dental, life,
accidental death and dismemberment benefits
described in the Group Advantage Small Group
Health Insurance brochure below.
Standard Security Life Insurance Company of
New York,
a member of the
IHC
Group, is rated A-(Excellent) by A.M. Best
Company, a widely recognized rating agency
that rates insurance companies on their
relative financial strength and ability to
meet their obligations to their insured's.
Standard Security Life Insurance Company of
New York
was founded in 1958, and is domiciled in the
State of New York, and headquartered in New
York City. It is licensed in all 50 states,
the District of Columbia, the Virgin
Islands, and Puerto Rico.
Group Advantage Small Group Health Insurance
policies provide high and low deductible
plans with unlimited"first
dollar" outpatient doctor office visit
co pays. A "first dollar" benefit is
defined as "a benefit you receive without
paying your calendar year health plan
deductible first e.g. outpatient doctor
office visit co pays, outpatient
prescription drug co pays, outpatient
Preventative care or Wellness benefits".
They also provide very competitively priced
HSA qualified
HDHP'sand
HRA's (Health Reimbursement Arrangements).
Calendar Year Health Plan Deductible choices
range from $500 to $8,000. There are three
different "co-insurance" options to
choose from as well with "stop loss
numbers" ranging from as low as 10,000
to as high as $25,000. Since the terms "co-insurance"
and "stop loss number"
are very rarely if ever explained to the
prospective insured. We will make an effort
to do so below. For ease of reference the
"stop loss number" in the below scenarios
will remain constant in all three examples.
If anything remains unclear be sure to ask
your broker of record for further
clarification. The first (and most
expensive) "co-insurance" arrangement
scenario is the 100% option. With this
option there would be nothing else to pay
for in network treatment once you have
satisfied your calendar year deductible.
The second
"co-insurance"
arrangement scenario
is the 90/10 of
$10,000 "co-insurance"
percentage split.
This simply means that after you
have satisfied your
calendar year
deductible, the
insurance company
will pay 90%
($9,000) and the
insured will pay 10%
($1,000) of the
first $10,000 in
medical bills that
you incur each year.
This first $10,000
is known as the "stop
loss number". After
this brief sharing
arrangement is over,
the insurance
company pays 100% up
to $5 Million for
the rest of that
calendar year.
Everything starts
over again on the
first of each
subsequent year.
The third
"co-insurance"
option is the 80/20
of $10,000 "co-insurance"
percentage split.
This
means that after you
have satisfied your
calendar year
deductible, United
Health Care will pay
80% ($8,000) and the
insured will pay 20%
($2,000) of the
first $10,000 in
medical bills that
you incur. This
first $10,000 is
known as the "stop
loss number". After
this brief sharing
arrangement is over,
the insurance
company pays 100% up
to $5 Million for
the rest of that
calendar year.
Everything starts
over again on the
first of each
subsequent year.
If the
"stop loss
number" in the
above scenario
increases from
$10,000 to $15,000,
$20,000 or $25,000
then your 10% or 20%
portion will
increase
respectively. The
point to remember is
that you are not
responsible for 10%
or 20% of your
entire medical bill.
There is always a
safety net and that
safety net is
referred to as the
"stop loss
number."

Since accidental injuries are far
more likely to occur than major medical illnesses (most especially when
you have active children) many families are choosing to purchase
supplemental accident expense plans. These plans pay you a cash benefit
of $2,500, $5,000, $7,500 or $10,000 when an accidental injury occurs.
This cash can then be used to pay your health insurance plan deductible.
Supplemental Accident Expense plans are also a great way to save money
because you can choose a higher deductible than you would normally
choose knowing that you will not have to pay that deductible if an
accidental injury occurs to any member of your family. Click below for
more information:
Supplemental Accident Expense plans can also be coupled with Critical
Illness plans. In fact, Supplemental Accident Expense plans are often
cheaper when coupled with Critical Illness plans. Why consider Critical
Illness coverage?
Approximately
1.2 MILLION people
suffer heart attacks each year.
Approximately
780,000 people suffer
strokes each year.
More than
1.4 MILLION new cancer cases were estimated for diagnosis in 2007
alone. Between 1994 and 2004, the death rate declined approximately 31%
for heart attacks and almost 24% for strokes. (Source: American Heart
Association, Heart and Stroke Statistical Update, 2008.) The possibility
of surviving a Critical Illness before age 65 is almost twice as great
as dying. (Source: National Center for Health Statistics.)
WOULDN’T A CHECK BE BETTER
THAN A GET WELL CARD? Critical Illness benefits are paid directly to
you. You choose how to spend the benefit at a time when you and your
family may need extra cash the most. For example:
Home Health Care
Cost of Caregivers
Lost Income of Self or Spouse
Daily Living Expenses
Co Pays, Deductibles & Co-Insurance
Non -Covered "Experimental Treatments
Housekeeping or Child Care Expense
Maintenance of Your Family's Quality of Life
American Financial Resources Inc. (www.gafri.com)
A subsidiary of American Financial Group Inc. (www.afginc.com)
has introduced a new Supplement Accident Expense plan that
also includes Critical Illness coverage and it's extremely
well priced. Adding this product to any health insurance
plan would not only alleviate the worry of paying your
health plan deductible if you or a family member where to
suffer an accidental injury but it will also provide you a
much larger cash benefit (up to $50,000) if you or a family
member where to contract a critical illnesses such as life
threatening Cancer, Stroke, Kidney failure, Major Organ
Transplant, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis or if you
suffer a Heart Attack. For more information about this
unique and affordable plan click the brochure below. For a
