Fidelity Security Life "Daily" Plan Administered by I.A.C.

The "Daily" plan is a truly unique plan insured by Fidelity Security Life Insurance Company www.fslins.com of Kansas City, Missouri, licensed around the country for over 30 years. The "Daily "plan is administered by I.A.C. - Insurers Administrative Corporation, one of the nations largest third party administrators.

The "Daily" plan is very unique because unlike other health insurance plans on the market today it provides a pre set "Daily Deductible" (either $250 or $500) instead of a calendar year deductible. This concept provides the insured with a much lower out of pocket expense if a costly medical procedure such as an M.R.I., CT scan, Nuclear Medicine Scan, Ultrasound, Colonoscopy or a host of other expensive outpatient medical procedures are needed.

The insured's out of pocket expense is much lower because most health insurance plans require the insured to satisfy a calendar year deductible before any of the aforementioned medical procedures would be covered. Faced with today's rising health insurance costs more and more insured's are choosing higher and higher calendar year deductible options. In fact the majority of our clients now choose the $2,500 calendar year deductible
option with most plans purchased.

In the above example, if just one of the aforementioned outpatient procedures are needed the insured would be out of pocket $2,500 before the insurance company would pay dollar one. If the same insured had the "Daily" plan the insured would only pay their $250 or $500 "Daily Deductible" and the remaining cost ($2,000 in this instance) would be paid by the insurance company at 100%.

About now a prudent reader has already run the worse case scenario in their head numerous times. With a "Daily Deductible" of $500 what happens if a person is admitted to the hospital for a week or a month or even a year? Are we too assume that the insured would be required to pay $500 for each day they are in the hospital? Thankfully the answer to that question is no! The most an insured can experience in out of pocket expenses for in network charges in a calendar year is $4,000. This means that even if an insured is admitted to an in network hospital for 365 days straight their out of pocket expense will still remain at $4,000. The remaining charges incurred during that calendar year would be paid by the insurance company at 100% up to the plan maximums.

With the $4,000 out of pocket cap in place the "Daily" plan looks even better. However, along with this safety net, the "Daily" plan also includes unlimited "first dollar" outpatient doctor office sick visit co pays. A "first dollar" benefit is defined as "a benefit you receive without paying your calendar year health plan deductible first e.g. outpatient doctor office visit co pays, outpatient prescription drug co pays and outpatient preventative care or wellness visits".  Each doctor's office sick visit will cost only a $25 co pay. The remaining doctors office visit charges will be paid at 100%. No deductible is required.

The "Daily" plan also includes "first dollar" coverage for Mammograms (covered at 100% with no deductible required) and routine physicals, annual GYN exams, child wellness, routine PAPS, prostate cancer screenings and flu shots. The charges for these services will be covered at 100% up to $250 per insured per calendar year with no deductible required. You can even add a vision benefit for a small additional premium.

Outpatient prescription drugs are also covered either on a discount basis only, or for an additional premium you can add an outpatient co pay prescription card. The optional outpatient co pay prescription card covers Generic drugs for a $10 co pay or 20% of the cost (whichever is greater) and formulary Brand name drugs for a $40 co pay or 30% of the cost (whichever is greater) after a separate $500 outpatient calendar year prescription drug deductible has been satisfied.

All things considered, the "Daily" plan is truly one of the most unique plans in the health insurance industry today. It provides the "bells and whistles" one looks for when purchasing a traditional health insurance plan but it also offers potentially much less risk than any other health insurance plan on the market today. As such it bears consideration. To view and print the brochure for the "Daily" plan please click on the I.A.C. Personal Health Plans brochure pictured below. The specific details for the "Daily" plan are found on pages 5 & 6 of the brochure.

Fidelity Security Life also offers one of the most competitive H.S.A. qualified H.D.H.P.'s on the market today. What is an H.S.A. qualified H.D.H.P?
